This year’s recipients of honorary decorations have been announced
On 25 October, the University of Tartu senate decided to award the University of Tartu Grand Medal to Professor of International Business Urmas Varblane. Also, the recipients of the University of Tartu Star of Appreciation, Medal, Badge of Distinction and the decoration “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” have been announced.

On 29 May, the Estonian Human Rights Centre presented the "Respecting differences" label to the University of Tartu for the second time at the joint building of ministries in Tallinn.
Awards of the Cultural Foundation of the President of the Republic given to Hedvig Tamman and Liisa Rätsep
The Young Scientist Award was given to Associate Professor in Genetics Hedvig Tamman and the Young IT Scientist Award to Head of Applied Natural Language Processing Liisa Rätsep.

On Estonia's Mother Tongue Day, Toomas Asser, Rector of the University of Tartu, presented University’s language award for 2023 to the authors of the textbook.

Tartu Ülikooli molekulaar- ja rakubioloogia instituudi rakubioloogia kaasprofessor Viljar Jaks pälvis keemia ja molekulaarbioloogia erialal uurimistööde tsükliga teemal „Kudede regeneratsioon ja rakuväline maatriks“ riikliku aastapreemia.

On the eve of the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, Rector of the University of Tartu Toomas Asser announced the university’s contribution to society award, research award and language award and the recipients of the teaching staff of the year award for 2023.
