Annual Conferences

The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology and former Estonian Biocentre, today Institute of Genomics, University of Tartu, have a tradition of annual conferences summing up the most important steps in the year, already for more than 30 years. The conferences usually take place in December.

The conferences do not have thematic titles, they are organized under the name of annual conference.

The main speakers of the conferences are Doctoral Students for whom the conference is often the first academic presentation about the topic of the dissertation. Every year some interesting guest lectures are also invited and some presentations are from the scientists of the host institutions with significant results of the work in particular year. In addition to oral speeches, the conference includes poster session for Doctoral Students and researchers.

The conferences are ogranized by the two institutes one after another and each time a certain chair or group is responsible for the organisation, programme, jury to evaluate the oral and poster presentations.

Below are the links of the conferences of the last years including the programme, annual book (protected with password) and in some cases also media gallery.

In 2020 the conference was postponed to January 2021 due to Covid-19 situation and for the first time the conference was not a contact-conference but took place online in Zoom.

The conference of 2021 was also postponed due to Covid-19 situation to January 2022 and was held on January 25-26.
Due to the Covid-19 situation, the conference was held as an online event in Zoom.

The conference of 2022 will be held as a physical event on 19-20 January 2023. There will be no webcast/hybrid format of the conference.

The joint annual conference of the UT Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology and the UT Institute of Genomics, which summarizes the events of 2022 in science, took place on January 19-20, 2023.

The deadline of thesis was December 1, 2022.
