Omicum Gallery curator Sulev Kuuse invites everyone to enjoy a new art exhibition in the new academic year. From the evening of August 26th, the exhibition "Cave of Wisdom" by Eero Ijavoinen will be on display in the study building on Riia Street. Ijavoinen's works will be on display until 6 October.
This Omicum exhibition was inspired by Andrus Kasemaa's oil painting "Composition" (1992). Eero Ijavoinen enters into a dialogue with this painting through his own works The Cave of Wisdom" and "Exit". The artist describes the narrative of the idea as follows: "Humanity has an immense amount of wisdom, information, technological and other skills. But it seems that this is not enough - we need to get out and reach a new level. It is an utopia, then. Not an illustration, but an improvisation on these themes."
Eero Ijavoinen is a freelance artist living and working in Tartu. He graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical University as an art teacher and has taught at Paide Ühisgümnaasium and Tartu Higher Art School. Ijavoinen paints and makes sculptures. The paintings are abstractions based on landscapes. The figures are made of wood and found objects. Ijavoinen has been exhibiting his art since 1990.
