TEDx University of Tartu brings people together to share “ideas worth spreading” across diverse topics on the 2nd June at the University of Tartu Delta Centre.

On 15 May, from 10:15 to 11:45, he gives a public lecture “Applying for ERC grants. The future of European research” in the building of the Institute of Cultural Research (Ülikooli 16–216).

Veikko Linko is an Associate Professor of Molecular Nanotechnology at the University of Tartu. Veikko’s role in Tartu has enabled him to build a research group to examine DNA-based nanostructures and collaborate with partners from across Europe.

The call for applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships is open until 9 September 2026. In April and May, the Estonian Research Council (ETAG) will host info sessions to help prospective applicants prepare their applications.

Kārlis is a master’s student in Bioengineering at the University of Tartu. Outside the lab, he enjoys sampling coffees in Tartu’s vibrant cafés and trying new sports – powerboating and Jiu-Jitsu.

Preliminary results of the International Student Barometer (ISB) show that international students are satisfied with their studies at the University of Tartu. They highlight strong academic quality, supportive learning conditions and the city of Tartu as an excellent living environment.

Academic institutions still value research more highly than teaching, but this is not logical, says Mariëtte van den Höven, Professor of Medical Ethics and Philosophy at the Amsterdam University Medical Center. Instead of a rapid career trajectory, the primary focus should be on conducting high-quality research.

On 27 October from 13–18, the University of Tartu development conference “A university for us, Estonia and the world” took place in the university assembly hall and online. Keynote speakers were Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Kersti Kaljulaid and Kristina Kallas.

From October 1–3, 2025, the University of Tartu Ethics Centre hosted an international research integrity seminar organized by the Alliance4Life_BRIDGE project, bringing together research ethics specialists from 11 Central and Eastern European countries.
