The fresh insight of the TÜMRI blog takes you to the the scientific collections preserved at our institute. The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology houses several scientific collections, which form a part of Estonia's scientific heritage. The acquisition and establishment of these collections are the result of intergenerational efforts, often spanning decades, and they hold invaluable and lasting significance for both education and research.

From 10 to 16 February, the University of Tartu will have a thematic week for Women in Science, aiming to underline the role of women and girls in science, break gender stereotypes and encourage women to pursue a career in science. During the week, a discussion on ensuring equal opportunities is held, and the university’s gender statistics are presented. It is also possible to take a curator’s tour of the exhibition in the university’s museum and see a travelling exhibition about astronomers.

This year’s digital cleanup campaign at the university lasted for almost an entire month. In total, university members freed up 4,313 GB of space on their devices and discarded 93.5 kg of old external data carriers.

On 20 November, the University of Tartu Library hosted a conference focusing on the particulars of interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary cooperation.

As part of Tartu Mobility Week, all students, university staff and cycling enthusiasts are invited to join a bike ride on 16 September at 18:00 to get to know the most convenient cycling route between the Maarjamõisa study buildings, Vanemuise 46, and the Delta study building.

The University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn University, the Estonian University of Life Sciences, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Estonian Academy of Arts, and the Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner celebrate the Diversity Week from 6 to 12 May, under the title “Diverse Estonian universities”.

On Wednesday, 10 April, at 19:00, the second University of Tartu Spring Run will take place.

Conference "Three Pillars of Circular Bioeconomy: Talent, R&D, and Technologies" took place at the Öpiku Conference Centre in Tallinn (Valukoja 8) on 12 and 13 February 2024.

The theme week, running from 5 to 11 February, will include a social media campaign highlighting the work and achievements of women researchers.

The Digital Cleanup Week will take place at the University of Tartu for the fourth time from 22 to 26 January.
