Tiksu stuffed toy can now be ordered from the university’s gift shop
The University of Tartu’s mascot, Tiksu, has already won over the hearts of the entire university community with its academic yet playful appearance and its presence at all major university events. Now, you can buy your own Tiksu stuffed toy from the university’s gift shop. The toys will arrive by mid-July.

University of Tartu and the Ministry of Education and Research signed the new administrative contract
On 13 May, the Ministry of Education and Research and the University of Tartu concluded an administrative contract for 2026–2028. It sets out the objectives of increasing student admissions in fields with higher labour demand, expanding the volume of doctoral research related to artificial intelligence, and supporting internationalisation and talent policy.

Funding Nudge Highlighted the Role of Project Managers and New Competencies of Researchers
On 12 February 2026, the University of Tartu organized an international research funding information event titled Funding Nudge. The event focused on supporting researchers in navigating funding opportunities, preparing competitive proposals, and ensuring the smooth implementation of research projects. Participants included representatives of major Estonian public universities, the Estonian Research Council, DAAD, BAFF, and the international consultancy firm Civitta.

New scholarship established by Maaja Vadi supports studying family history
Maaja Vadi, Professor of Management at the University of Tartu, has established the Maaja Vadi Family History Scholarship at the University of Tartu Foundation to support university staff and students in researching and recording their family history, genealogy or the activities of their predecessors, and sharing the results.
