The University of Tartu and the Blood Centre of Tartu University Hospital invite university members to the Blood Donor Day in the Delta Centre on 6 November, from 10:30 to 15:00.

On 27 October from 13–18, the University of Tartu development conference “A university for us, Estonia and the world” took place in the university assembly hall and online. Keynote speakers were Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Kersti Kaljulaid and Kristina Kallas.

The University of Tartu three-minute thesis competition offers everyone the opportunity to learn in simple language how the research of current doctoral researchers contributes to making the world a better place to live in the future. The competition will be held on Wednesday, 22 October at 10:00 in the conference hall of the University of Tartu Library.

The discussion were be based on the new University of Tartu strategic plan approved in June.

On 2 September at 14:15 Tarmo Puurand will defend his doctoral thesis “Human genome studies with k-mer frequencies” for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Bioinformatics.

On 22 October, doctoral researchers of the University of Tartu have an opportunity to introduce their research results to the public in the format of a three-minute short lecture.

Over the past decade, widening countries (those with lower research and innovation performance) have made substantial progress in increasing their participation in European research and innovation programmes. However, differences have emerged in the development capacity and needs of research institutions in these countries.

On April 25 at 12:15 Artjom Stepanjuk will defend his doctoral thesis "Function of adhesion molecules and signalling pathways in human endometrial and embryonic models" (in Cell Biology).
