Led by the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Centre for Sustainable Development of the University of Tartu, a guidance material has been developed for researchers on how to conduct interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.

The collection was initiated in 2018 when the research project "101 yeast strains from Estonian nature" took place. The project was carried out in collaboration with research teams led by Prof. Arnold Kristjuhan and Prof. Tiina Tamm.

On 15 November, the Estonian Research Council recognised outstanding science communicators at its annual science communication conference.

The Riia Gallery will showcase its first works in November 2024. It is a second independent, smaller art gallery operating alongside the Omicum Gallery. Both galleries are curated by Sulev Kuuse, the head of the vivarium at the University of Tartu Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (TÜMRI).

The University of Tartu is advancing its research on antibacterial surfaces through the European Commission-funded Twinning project, FAST-Real ("Twinning on Functional Antimicrobial Surfaces Testing and Evaluation for Real-world Performance and Sustainability").

On 14 November, the Just Transition Forum “From smart shrinkage to sustainable large-scale industry. Visions for the future of Ida-Viru” will be held at the Narva College.

The members of the Academy elected Honorary Doctor of the University of Tartu Mart Saarma as the tenth President of the Academy.
